US Congressman Elton Gallegly

About Elton

GalleglyCongressman Elton Gallegly is a native Southern Californian, has lived in the 24th Congressional District for 40 years, has raised four children here, and seven of his eight grandchildren live here.

Before being elected to represent his family, friends, and neighbors in Congress in 1986, Elton built a successful business in the district and was a city mayor for six years.

Elton’s background makes him uniquely qualified to serve as a U.S. representative. He understands the pressures of families and small businesses, and knows what local governments need and don’t need from the federal government.

In addition, Elton works in Washington, DC, but lives in the 24th Congressional District. He returns home every weekend, yet maintains a 98% voting attendance record.

  • Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Europe;
  • Member of the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence;
  • Has met with more than 50 heads of state, government delegations, or members of foreign legislative bodies here and abroad;
  • Was the first member of Congress to meet with Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf after the February 2008 parliamentary elections.

  • Vice Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Immigration, Citizenship, Refugees, Border Security, and International Law;
